FCM push notifications issue

I have followed this guide to the letter: https://blog.xamarin.com/implementing-push-notifications-android-apps/

But all i get is this:

06-27 11:40:46.376 I/FirebaseInitProvider( 4568): FirebaseApp initialization unsuccessful

Any further insights regarding said tutorial? Thank you!
